Belmayne’s Beth Puts Best Foot Forward for Foundation
A personal assistant from Dronfield-based financial planners, Belmayne, is preparing to tackle Sheffield Half Marathon to raise funds for the independent firm’s charitable foundation.
Novice runner, Beth Holmes, will be taking on the 13-mile road race on March 29, to support St Luke’s Hospice and Sheffield Parent Carer Forum – Belmayne’s nominated charities.
Beth has spent the last six months preparing for the half marathon, after participating in her first race – the Sheffield 10K – last year. Soon after completing this event, she decided to set herself a bigger challenge and use the opportunity to raise funds for the Belmayne Foundation.
Beth said: “As a born and bred Sheffielder, the half marathon felt like the obvious next step on my running journey. I’ve volunteered as a race marshall a few times and the atmosphere is electric. I’ve never completed a half marathon distance, so I’m gradually building up to it as the race nears. If I achieve a time under two and a half hours, I’ll be very happy!”
All money raised by Beth and her colleagues will benefit the Belmayne Foundation, which supports small registered charities that focus on health and wellbeing and provide relief to those in need. Since its inception in 2019, the firm has donated more than £58,000 to 16 local organisations.
Belmayne partner, David Bashforth, added: “We are hugely proud of Beth for taking on such a daunting challenge and working so hard to raise funds for our annual charities. She’s persevered with her training schedule, despite the terrible winter weather and demands of young children and we’ve every confidence she’ll smash her target on the day. I’d like to thank everyone who has already sponsored her efforts and encourage others to do so – we’ll be cheering her on all the way!”
Sheffield Half Marathon is organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run for All. It starts and finishes in the city centre and is renowned for being one of the more challenging events of this length, due to its hilly nature. It includes a timed hill climb and 10K downhill sprint.
