Healthcare recruiter’s investment in employee training results in £1m debtor reduction

Iwona with her Level 4 AAT Diploma in Accounting

Unity Plus, a Leeds-based health and social care recruitment agency, is celebrating employee Iwona Szczecina’s achievement of completing a Level 4 AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting. Having supported Iwona through the qualification this marks a significant step in both the employee’s personal career development and Unity Plus’s financial growth.

Since joining the agency in 2023 as a credit controller, Iwona’s role has rapidly evolved. Iwona has been instrumental in reducing Unity Plus’s debtors from £2m to £1m in just six months, providing the organisation with the stability needed to expand into new business areas.

This stability has been crucial as Unity Plus broadens its focus beyond healthcare, entering sectors such as health, safety, and social care training, having recently entered a partnership agreement with Bank Training Ltd, where Iwona now oversees the production of management accounts.

Mark Robinson, Unity’s Finance Director and Iwona’s line manager, comments on the achievement: “Iwona’s willingness to perform her tasks to the best of her abilities, ask questions and listen continues to inspire me to ensure she achieves her career goals. Witnessing the progression Iwona has made in the 20 months she has been employed with us has made me want to invest more time and energy into developing more of our team in areas they choose.”

Iwona is set to continue her journey towards becoming a chartered accountant, further contributing to Unity Plus’s financial leadership in the industry.

“This achievement reflects our company philosophy of ‘Supporting you to Achieve,’ which we embed across the entire organisation. By investing in our team’s growth, we ensure that both our employees and our company thrive together,” adds Ross Hodgson, Unity Plus CEO.

Unity Plus has now partnered with an external training provider to ensure that more staff members have the opportunity to pursue recognised qualifications. Five staff members are currently undergoing further training.
