Inspiring speakers headline inaugural West Yorkshire Conference

Business leaders from Leeds, Wakefield, Bradford, Kirklees, and Calderdale will unite this summer for a powerful new event: the inaugural West Yorkshire Conference, set to take place at Pontefract Racecourse on Wednesday 9th July 2025.

At the heart of this unique gathering are the visionary speakers and thought leaders shaping the future of business in the region and beyond.

Taking centre stage is British sporting icon Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, whose legendary Olympic journey has inspired millions. In an exclusive keynote conversation with celebrated broadcaster Christa Ackroyd, Eddie will reflect on his incredible story of resilience, determination, and overcoming the odds—lessons every entrepreneur and business leader can draw from.

Christa, a respected journalist and TV presenter, will host the day’s proceedings and lead interviews and discussions with some of the region’s most influential business minds, as well as a globally recognised economist offering a sharp focus on the West Yorkshire economy.
Interactive panels throughout the day will dive into crucial topics such as attracting investment and top talent to the region, building sustainable businesses, developing future-ready leadership, and driving regional growth through collaboration.

The Conference is the brainchild of We Are Wakefield, a dynamic business networking group committed to connecting and strengthening West Yorkshire’s business ecosystem.
