JCT600 delivers strong annual results driven by customer and colleague focus

Family-owned automotive retailer JCT600 has delivered a strong financial performance for the year ended 31 December 2025, with revenues of £1.326bn and pre-tax profits of just over £20.1m, as a sustained focus on colleagues and customers continues to translate into business success.

A belief that better experiences for colleagues lead directly to better outcomes for customers and ultimately, stronger long-term performance is at the heart of the company’s strategy and is an approach that is reflected in JCT600’s latest results.

Improved employee satisfaction and reduced staff turnover have strengthened service quality and also helped lower recruitment costs for the business. This, along with an appeal for cost-saving ideas from the shop floor has enabled a reduction in expenses as a proportion of turnover, despite rising cost pressures across the wider automotive sector in 2025.

The momentum has fed directly into the experience JCT600 offers its customers. The business continued to improve its reputation and rankings across all measures, as customers responded positively to investment in showrooms, service experiences, and colleague expertise.

While new car sales saw a 2.1% decline, consistent with broader market pressures, the business achieved a 2.1% increase in used vehicle sales and a 5% rise in service turnover, outperforming UK industry averages in both areas.

JCT600 executive chairman, John Tordoff, said: “Over the last few years, we’ve made a deliberate and sustained investment in both our colleagues and our customers to support long-term growth. What we are now seeing is the impact of that approach coming through in our performance.

“A happier, more engaged team delivers a better experience. Customers notice that, they value it, and they choose to come back. That is now translating into stronger results for the business.”

He added: “This reflects who we are as a family business. We genuinely care about our colleagues, and in turn they care about our customers. That connection is what sets us apart and is increasingly driving our success.”

The positive momentum has continued into 2026. The first quarter of the year has seen a record number of industry award wins, alongside Google review scores rising above 4.8. Two JCT600 dealerships have also been ranked among the top 10 in the UK by Reputation.com, further underlining improvements in customer satisfaction.

JCT600 has also outperformed the wider UK market within its brand portfolio, achieving approximately 0.5% higher new vehicle registration share compared to competitors.

“JCT600 turns 80 years old this summer. We’re encouraged to see more customers than ever actively choosing to do business with us,” said Mr Tordoff. “It shows that our focus on experience is not only improving satisfaction but also strengthening our competitive position and hopefully guaranteeing us another 80 years in business.”

The business remains focused on balancing continued investment with operational efficiency. “We continue to look closely at cost control and efficiencies, particularly through technology and improved systems,” said Mr Tordoff.

“At the same time, we are investing in our physical environments, expanding our electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and supporting future growth, while continuing to strengthen our environmental sustainability through renewable energy, improved energy monitoring, and more effective management of waste and water.”

Founded in Bradford in 1946, family-owned business JCT600 is one of the UK’s largest independent automotive retailers, employing more than 2,150 people and representing 20 brands across a network of dealerships in Yorkshire, the North East and the Midlands.
