JCT600 drives EV growth with first Yorkshire XPENG dealerships in Leeds and Hull

JCT600’s new XPENG dealership in Leeds

Independent automotive group JCT600 is expanding its presence across Yorkshire with the launch of two new dealerships in Leeds and Hull, as part of its ongoing investment in electric vehicles and emerging automotive brands.

The Bradford-headquartered business will introduce XPENG to Yorkshire for the first time this month, with new sites opening in both cities. The expansion comes as JCT600 continues to diversify its manufacturer partnerships in response to growing demand for electric vehicles.

The Leeds site, based at JCT600 Approved South Leeds, is expected to create six new jobs and serve customers across West Yorkshire.

In Hull, the new XPENG dealership, at Priory Tec Park in Hessle, opens following a reorganisation of the group’s existing Volkswagen operations in the area, with the van centre relocating to the neighbouring JCT600 Volkswagen car dealership. The new site further strengthens JCT600’s presence at Priory Tec Park, following the opening of a new Changan EV dealership as well as a new JCT600 Approved used vehicle centre there earlier this month.

Both the Leeds and Hull sites will offer full sales, servicing and aftersales support, with further new jobs expected as the brand establishes itself in the region during 2026.

Founded in 2014 in Guangzhou, China, XPENG is one of a new wave of technology-led electric vehicle manufacturers, recognised for its focus on onboard software, intelligent systems and energy efficiency. Its G6 electric SUV will be the first model available at the new Yorkshire dealerships, with additional vehicles due to join the UK line-up later this year as the brand expands its European presence.

The investment builds on JCT600’s recent expansion into new EV partnerships, including the addition of Chinese manufacturer Changan, and reflects the group’s continued confidence in the evolving automotive market and growing consumer demand for electric vehicles.

John Tordoff, executive chairman at JCT600, said: “This is an important step in the continued development of our business. Expanding our partnerships with new and innovative EV brands ensures we are well positioned for the future and able to offer customers across Yorkshire greater choice as the market continues to evolve.”

XPENG UK sales director, Jonny Miller, said: “2026 will be a year of growth for XPENG UK. The new XPENG G6 arrives in showrooms shortly, and we have more exciting new models coming later this year. We are very pleased to appoint JCT600 in Leeds and Hull, signalling our intent to grow our retailer coverage in key locations this year.”

JCT600 has continued to invest in its retail footprint in recent years, refurbishing sites and upgrading infrastructure to support electric vehicle sales and servicing.

The group employs around 2,300 people and represents 19 manufacturers across more than 50 locations in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and the North East.
