A group of Yorkshire-based surveyors have launched a new online platform created exclusively for commercial property listings. The portal, Go To Commercial, has launched with over 1,100 commercial property listings from agents across the region, spanning office, retail and industrial space, as well as investment and development opportunities.

The platform was developed out of a need for a single, user-friendly destination for commercial property listings. While residential portals have successfully centralised listings and simplified the search process for buyers, many commercial property professionals feel the sector has been left relying on fragmented platforms or systems adapted for residential purposes. Rising portal costs and long-term contracts have also become a growing concern for agents, prompting the founders to position Go To Commercial as a more transparent and accessible alternative.

Listings on the platform are provided by a growing network of experienced commercial property agencies — including the likes of Carter Towler, Michael Steel & co, Walker Singleton, Mark Brearley & Co, Bramleys, Holder and Co, Dacres Commercial, Adair Paxton, Smiths Chartered surveyors, Holroyd Miller, Metcalf Commercial, Woodheads, Harvey Burns & co, and Atkinson Associates — offering access to a diverse range of property types and specialist sectors.

Andrew Steel, founder of Go To Commercial and partner at Leeds-based surveying firm Michael Steel & Co, said: “The platform grew out of conversations we were having with other agents about the frustrations of using existing portals. There was a clear gap in the market for a platform built specifically around commercial property, rather than trying to adapt systems designed for residential use. The focus has been on creating something practical, intuitive and genuinely useful for the industry.”

Nick Bone, founding member of Go To Commercial and director at Bone Consulting, added: “The aim was to remove unnecessary friction from commercial property search. We wanted to create a platform that reflects how people actually look for and assess commercial property, using tools that are headache free and easy-to-use.”

The platform has also been built with long-term insight in mind. With a robust backend database capturing data from each listing, supporting the potential for enhanced market intelligence as the network agents continues to expand.

Ian Greenwood, managing director at Carter Towler, added: “the key to the new website is its foundation based upon commercial property agent expertise at the industry coal face; agents understand the property search and identification process and the need for access to the largest cross section of the regional market in one place.”

With strong early uptake from agents across Leeds and West Yorkshire, the network of agents who have invested in the platform as are now inviting agents in other regions to join the platform and contribute to the development of a genuinely national, commercial-only alternative.

Andrew Steel concluded: “The early support from agents in Leeds and West Yorkshire has been encouraging, and the platform’s effectiveness will come from the industry itself, and as more agents join, its value as a national commercial property resource will continue to grow.”
