New appointment for expanding Hull accountancy firm

Beverley-based Northern Accountants has appointed an experienced book-keeper, in the latest in a series of hires set to boost the firm’s aspirations to become a Top 100 practice.

With a seven year accounting career – following a switch from secondary school Maths teaching – Alice Henderson has bolstered the expertise of the team. As one of nine new Northern Accountants hires, she will offer support for the fast growing customer base across the North of England.

Her appointment comes hot on the heels of Northern Accountants forming a strategic advisory board, complete with three new non-executive directors (NEDs). They include director of people and culture Anna Masheter, who has more than 20 years’ learning and development experience. She is joined by communications specialist Katie Mallinson, who assumes the role of marketing director, having sold and exited her own agency. And commercial director Nick Washbourne completes the line-up, with a 25-year career in sales and business development.

This significant investment in talent coincides with Northern Accountants announcing its best-performing quarter ever. Turnover currently stands at £3.3m for the business already ranked in the top 300 accountancy practices in the UK. But all eyes are now on a growth strategy to reach £7.8m, in five years’ time.

Commenting on the new additions to the team, director Ricky Field – a long-standing accountant for the East Yorkshire business community – said: “We’re delighted to have Alice join us. Before the nine new hires, Northern Accountants had a 36-strong team, with offices in Beverley, Leeds and Edinburgh.
