Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society has dedicated its time and energy to supporting Dragonfly Cancer Trust by packing 65 arts and crafts activity boxes for children and young people living with cancer.

These thoughtfully prepared boxes will be distributed to hospitals and hospices across the UK, including St. Luke’s Hospice and Leeds General Infirmary, helping families both locally and nationally.

Each activity box is designed to bring moments of fun, creativity, and connection during hospital treatment or hospice care. The boxes include a mix of calming and engaging activities, encouraging children and young people to express themselves, create memories, and share special moments with loved ones. Many families treasure these creations as lasting keepsakes of hope and togetherness.
“These activity boxes offer children and young people moments of creativity, comfort, and connection at a time when life feels anything but normal,” said Natalie Hickinbottom from Dragonfly Cancer Trust. “We’re incredibly grateful to Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society for giving their time to help us reach more families across
the UK, including right here in our local community.”

The volunteering support from Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society directly helps Dragonfly Cancer Trust continue delivering vital emotional and practical support to families facing life-limiting and life-threatening cancer diagnoses.

“We’re proud to support Dragonfly Cancer Trust and the life-changing work they do for young people and their families,” said Jamie Bellamy, CEO of Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society. “Packing these activity boxes is a small gesture, but we hope they bring moments of comfort, distraction, and fun. As a mutual, supporting our
communities and making a positive difference is at the heart of everything we do.” Dragonfly Cancer Trust continues to seek local volunteers, donations, and community partnerships to help sustain its work.
