Steel City Star Shines at Silverstone in GB3 Championship Debut

Sheffield teenager and rising motorsport star Rowan Campbell‑Pilling secured three top ten finishes – and an impressive fifth place in the official standings – at Silverstone for his debut GB3 Championship, partnered by the BRDC, weekend.

After two successful seasons in Formula 4 (F4) and a recent win in the F4 UAE Trophy Series, the racing star has hit the ground running in his first round of GB3 – the proven step to FIA Formula 3 and beyond.

The GB3 Championship, formerly British F3, features on the British GT Calendar which attracts considerable crowds as spectators come to see single seaters, as well as Aston Martin, McLaren and Lamborghini sports cars racing in the three-hour endurance series.

Driving at speeds of up to 160mph against 22 others from 14 different nationalities, Rowan secured three top ten finishes – including two P5s and a P7 – during his debut weekend at Silverstone. As the highest placed debutant, Rowan secured fifth in the official GB3 Championship standings.

Rowan said: “It’s been a great start to the GB3 season with three top ten finishes at Silverstone. Despite competing against more experienced drivers from around the world, I’ve managed to place fifth in the GB3 Championship standings. I’m thrilled about our results and look forward to making more progress over the rest of the championship.

Rowan has rejoined the team responsible for his achievements in the UAE last year, Dubai-based Xcel Motorsport, for his GB3 debut.
