STEPS Rehabilitation featured in major new book charting the history of royal and parliamentary leadership

STEPS Rehabilitation has been featured in Monarchy and Democracy: A History of Leadership, a major new publication exploring the evolving roles of the Crown and Parliament in the leadership of the UK and the Commonwealth. The book was officially launched at Westminster Abbey’s College Garden on Tuesday 9th June 2026.
Written by a team of prominent academics and bestselling authors, including royal experts Robert Jobson, Russell Myers and Katie Nicholl, the fully illustrated, 750-page publication examines the development of monarchy and democracy across the centuries, while also profiling a selection of organisations recognised for leadership, innovation and impact.
Published by St James’s House in partnership with the History of Parliament Trust, the book was unveiled to more than 500 attendees, including leading figures from parliament, industry and the media, alongside a host of invited guests. The launch included a panel conversation with contributors Robert Jobson, Russell Myers and Katie Nicholl, followed by the official presentation of the publication.
STEPS Rehabilitation
Founded in 2017 by sisters Jules Shiel-Boulger, Toria Chan, and their father, Ray Boulger, STEPS Rehabilitation is a specialist rehabilitation centre in Sheffield providing residential rehabilitation for people recovering from brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, limb loss and complex trauma injuries. Established at a time when rehabilitation services were often focused on single conditions, STEPS set out to offer a more holistic model of specialist and intensive rehabilitation, bringing together clinical expertise, advanced rehabilitation technology and personalised care under one roof. Since opening its doors, the centre has supported more than 500 individuals through their rehabilitation journey, helping the majority to return home following treatment. Its interdisciplinary approach combines therapies such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech, language therapy and psychological therapies with complementary therapies tailored to each person’s needs. Alongside its purpose built facility, STEPS has also become known for the strong sense of community it fosters, with clients benefiting not only from expert support but also from a network of peers and former clients who continue to encourage one another long after discharge.

The book’s launch was followed by the London Press Club Summer Garden Party, attended by more than 600 guests from across the UK media landscape. Published in print and e-book formats, Monarchy and Democracy: A History of Leadership is being made available to key political, institutional and educational audiences in the UK, Europe and the Commonwealth.
