Stonebridge Homes Pledges Support for Yorkshire Buyers
With UK house prices climbing and mortgage rates reaching new highs, Yorkshire born housebuilder Stonebridge Homes is helping the region’s buyers by covering stamp duty on selected homes, easing pressures on households amid rising costs.
The move is a response to rising costs in the region; Yorkshire and the Humber recorded the highest annual house price inflation among English regions at 4.5% in the year to September 2025 – above the England average – meaning stamp duty bills are also rising. On a typical £300,000 home, buyers now face around £5,000 in stamp duty, while the average UK mortgage rate surpassed 5% last month.
Meanwhile, house prices in England and Wales grew 1.3% year-on-year in January, and total mortgage interest paid in the UK rose 9% last year to £53.6bn.
Stonebridge Homes says its 0% stamp duty offer will help customers in the face of these challenges, with stamp duty paid on selected homes across Stonebridge developments in Yorkshire, including Sandpiper Grange in Whitby, The Grange in Wakefield, and The Meadows in Armthorpe, Doncaster.
Managing Director Ed Hutchinson said: “We know buyers are facing unprecedented pressures from rising property costs, mortgage rates, and the wider cost of living. By covering stamp duty, we hope to give customers more certainty, providing practical relief at a time when affordability remains a key concern.”
