Visit Malton launches new chapter of ‘Made in Malton’ programme
New initiative will reflect the full breadth of Malton’s business talent, makers and heritage
Visit Malton has announced the launch of its new landmark programme ‘Made in Malton,’ a defining initiative for the town that will celebrate Malton-based creators, makers and entrepreneurs across all trades, as well as aiming to attract more established businesses and start-ups to the area.
Building on Malton’s well-established reputation for being known as the ‘food capital of North Yorkshire, ‘Made in Malton’ marks a new milestone to fully reflect the entirety of the successful ‘making’ economy in the local area.
Malton’s businesses cover diverse industries and skills that the town has a long and rich heritage in, from horse racing and furniture making to arts and crafts and food.
By platforming individual stories from Malton’s community plus the many business owners based locally, Visit Malton’s programme, backed by the Fitzwilliam Malton Estate, will enable visitors from far and wide to better discover local talent, education, skills and activities, as well as generate increased footfall and visibility for the town.
Alongside a multi-channel marketing campaign that aims to make Malton’s business community more visible to visitors year-round, the ‘Made in Malton’ programme will celebrate and share the economic activity, character and day-to-day business of the town to enhance awareness of the unique opportunity gained from living, working or doing business in Malton.
The Fitzwilliam Malton Estate, which runs Visit Malton (and the Made in Malton programme,) will also share further information on its business activities, partnership projects and the unique opportunity that its large portfolio ownership offers to support the local economy and businesses in Malton. Investing in Malton for over 300 years, the Estate provides 275 commercial properties, 150 residential homes and provides 207 car parking spaces providing 2 hours free car parking for users to shop locally.
Additionally, the Estate maintains heritage sites and buildings across the town, including managing one scheduled ancient monument and 120 listed buildings. The Estate has a vested interest in the success of Malton and works in partnership with local authority and community partnerships to add value and enhance the town.
