West Yorkshire care team take care to pass qualifications

Care certificate success for Thomaskutty Matthew, Abbie Lennon and Abby Payton at Czajka Care Group.

A team of 33 dedicated care professionals from Czajka Care Group have successfully completed their Care Certificates recently, marking a key milestone in their professional development and commitment to providing exceptional care.

At Staveley Birkleas Nursing Home in Nab Wood near Saltaire, 29 members of the team have all achieved their certificates. They were joined by four colleagues from Currergate Nursing Home in Steeton, who also successfully completed their training throughout 2025.

The Care Certificate is a nationally recognised qualification that ensures care workers have the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to deliver safe, compassionate, and high-quality care. To achieve it, each team member must complete 16 mandatory standards covering key topics such as duty of care, safeguarding, infection control, communication, equality and diversity, and health and safety.

Czajka Care Group’s training process is rigorous and practical. Team members complete online training through specialist care sector e-learning platform, Your Hippo, and are then observed and supported in the workplace by senior carers and training leads. They must also complete a competency booklet and a reflective report demonstrating their understanding of personal care, manual handling, mental health, dementia awareness, nutrition, and more.

Once the team have achieved their Care Certificate, many progress onto nationally recognised diplomas in health and social care, supported by Czajka Care Group’s dedicated in-house training team.

Czajka Care Group’s managing director, Konrad Czajka, added: “As an independent and family owned and run firm, training and development is at the heart of everything we do. We invest heavily in our people because we know that great care starts with great carers, and their hard work and commitment make a real difference to our residents’ lives every day. We also have our very own training centre which makes a huge difference, and other care companies from across the region can also access the training we provide from it.”

Sam Birch, Czajka Care Group’s training manager, said: ““We are incredibly proud of our team members for achieving their Care Certificates. This qualification represents the foundation of excellent care practice, and it’s inspiring to see so many of our new starters embrace learning, grow in confidence, and develop their professional skills so early in their careers.

“Our team are also encouraged to progress further with several completing their Level 3 and Level 4 diplomas in adult care and potentially going even further. Two of our team have been supported throughout their nursing degrees and are now qualified and working as nurses at Currergate Nursing Home. One team member at Saveley Birkleas Nursing Home is in her final 18 months of her nursing degree. This kind of career development is incredibly rewarding to be involved in and to see so many of our team members’ dedication to career development is just fantastic.”
