West Yorkshire Manufacturing Services launches bespoke leadership development programme

Manufacturing sector charity organisation West Yorkshire Manufacturing Services (WYMS) has announced the launch of a new programme to help manufacturing businesses prepare future leaders for career progression and managing change.

Designed for middle and aspiring managers within Yorkshire’s manufacturing sector, the leadership development programme has been created to help manufacturers future-proof their leadership capability while driving commercial success.

Based on an initial consultation, programmes are built around organisational structure, culture, and change. Delegates will explore leadership mindsets, as well as interpersonal skills. Workshops may also explore areas including employee engagement, creating a positive working environment, diversity and inclusion, and managing change.

Delivered in a practical, workshop-based format on-site or at West Yorkshire Manufacturing Services’ headquarters in Brighouse, the programme encourages collaboration and provides learning that can be immediately applied within the workplace.

The programme is developed and delivered by Mark Lewis, CEO at West Yorkshire Manufacturing Services, who brings over 20 years’ experience as an organisational development consultant and more than 30 years’ experience in senior organisational development and people management roles.

“The programme has been designed to support the region’s manufacturers as they navigate ongoing change and will help address real operational and business challenges.” Says Mark.

“Manufacturing businesses are operating in an increasingly complex and competitive environment. Technical expertise alone is no longer enough. And, as more and more senior level expertise leaves the industry, manufacturing businesses must invest in succession planning and talent development to secure their future.

“Leaders at every level need the confidence and capability to engage teams and drive performance, and our programme is designed with this in mind. It is practical and personalised to the business, giving tools that can be applied immediately to improve results. There is a strong commercial focus, equipping managers with a clearer understanding of strategy, financial and resource planning, culture alignment and effective decision-making models.”
