A Tidy Mind Team has launched as an independent professional organising and decluttering business, founded by local businesswoman Rachel Cordingley.

The original A Tidy Mind business began in Menston and later expanded nationally as a franchise. The business has returned to its roots as an independent operation.

Rachel has retained her team of nine professional organisers, who have continued to support both existing and new clients throughout this transition.

Rachel explains that the new name, A Tidy Mind Team, honours the origins of the business while recognising that the strength of the service lies in the team itself, which is greater than the sum of its parts.

Most clients work one-to-one with a professional organiser, although some situations require the service to scale up into a team approach. As Rachel puts it, “teamwork makes the dream work”.

Rachel has been a professional organiser and declutter coach since 2015. During the setup and launch of the new business, she has continued to work hands-on with clients. Many clients, often neurodiverse or experiencing mental health challenges, feel overwhelmed by their belongings and clutter, struggle to know where to start, or begin and then become stuck.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Each service is tailored to what works best for the individual client.

A Tidy Mind Team supports clients to decide what should stay and what should go, optimise storage space, allocate a home for everything and return items to their proper place. This helps create homes that are easier to maintain. A core part of the ethos is coaching clients to develop sustainable tidy habits and routines. As Rachel says, “what is one person’s trash is another’s treasure”, and the team actively rehome, donate and recycle unwanted items wherever possible.

The business offers support with all aspects of decluttering and organising, including paperwork, house moves, home styling, life transitions, house clearances following bereavement, coaching, financial organising and budgeting, hoarding tendencies, and life administration.

The team is trained to the UK APDO (Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers) standards and has specialist training in working with clients with ADHD, autism, PTSD, CPTSD and related conditions.

Based in Ilkley, the team covers all of Yorkshire, as well as Humberside, Lancashire and beyond.

They welcome hearing from anyone brave enough to reach out for help, and promise that:

• there is no judgement
• the process is gentle, kind, compassionate and empathetic
• they work at the client’s pace and follow the client’s decisions
• they support by doing the physical work while guiding, encouraging and supporting at every stage

If you or anyone you know needs a bit of help to enable them to fall in love with their home again, please contact Rachel on 07956 650146 or [email protected] and more information can be found at https://atidymindteam.co.uk.
